          Chief Bilyaminu Shardow (b.17.07.1924)

                          (aka. Papa Tailor)

 

 

Chief Bilyaminu Shardow was born in Accra on the 17th of July 1924.

He attended Accra Royal School from 1932  to 1940. From 1941

to 1945 he learnt tailoring under the tutelage of Master Tailor J. E.

Samuel of Pagan Rd. Accra. On qualifying as a tailor in 1945, he

set up his own shop and by 1953  had saved enough money to pay

his fare by boat to London, UK where he attended the Tailor And

Cutter Academy, obtaining a Diploma Of Merit (First Class) in

tailoring. In 1957 he wed Margaret Sharon Davis. After working in

various places in the city of London, he returned to Ghana in 1961

and was employed by the Ghana Young Pioneers until 1966. He

then worked for a year with Master Tailor E. K. Quarshie of Osu

before establishing his own outfit at Cow Lane in Accra retiring in

2003. He became chief and head of family in August 2013 after the

death of  his cousin Chief Yusifu Shardow (Broda).
