                   Jazwaliyu Lawani

                        (aka. Baba Takoradi)

                        (1914-1988)

 

He was the third child of B.M. Lawani. He was born in

Accra in 1914. 

He joined the Gold Coast Railway Traffic Manager's Office,

Takoradi on the 15th of March 1937 soon after completing

his secondary education at Accra Academy. He retired from

the Ghana Railways Corporation as its Acting Traffic

Manager on the 30th of June 1971 after 34 years of service.

 On retirement, he taught Arabic at the Ghana Institute

of Languages, Accra, and later became the Constituency

Chairman of Umaru Igala's party. He was very active in

Islamic affairs and was a founding member of The Ghana

Muslim Representative Council

He died in 1988  leaving behind 14 children from 5 wives.

Anajimu Sakibu; Hamda (Maami);  Ummu.

 

2nd Wife: Zara (Mid-wife) Officer Ali.

Children: Aminu;  Abubakar;  Umaru.

 

3rd Wife: Nafisatu

Child: Halimatu-Sadia (d)

 

4th Wife: Charlotte

Children: Ahmed; Aisha (Aaten)

 

5th Wife: Auntie Shatu
